SPIRIT QUEST BALI: One of the most spiritual places in the world,
a tropical paradise devoted to a unique form of Hinduism that includes trance dance and elaborate festivals and rituals.
There are 40,000 temples on the island and the people are as friendly as they are spiritual. We will visit the most
sacred of the temples, enjoy meditation and beach time, learn special Balinese-style yoga,indulge in Balinese spa treatments,
view beautiful waterfalls, mountains and rice paddies, visit shamans, gurus and medicine people,and view spectacular dances
and rituals.
Jan. 10 We'll be arriving at Nusa Dua at a beach resort hotel. In the
evening we'll have dinner at Jimbaran Beach, where we can have fresh seafood grilled to order at a candlelit beach-front
table. Jan. 11 Indulge in spa treatments or beach time to overcome jet-lag. In the evening we'll
be visiting one of Bali's holiest and important temples; Ulu Watu, which rests on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean to
view the Kecak Dance, an unforgettable spectacle of 50 dancers. Jan. 12 We'll be shopping and sight-seeing
at kuta and Seminyak, a long surfer beach with cafe's and shops galore with imaginative but inexpensive designs. In
the afternoon we'll visit Tanah Lot, Bali's most photographed temple which sits serenely atop it's own island. Jan. 13 We'll move to a hotel in Sanur, a beach
resort with sumptous hotel gardens and a village atmosphere. From here we will visit Pura Besakih temple, on the slopes
of Gunung Agung, the holiest and highest mountain on the island, the most sacred spot on Bali. Jan. 14 From Sanur we'll fly to the island of Java
for the day to visit Borobudur, a wonder of the world, a 7th century magnificent Buddhist Temple. Jan. 15 We'll move to a hotel in Ubud, the arty heart
of Bali with beautifully sited accomodations, great restaurants and craft shops, and ricefields in every direction.
We'll visit the Tirta Gangga water palace, with it's extensive pools, statues, and fountains and beautiful gardens surrounded
by ricefields and impressive mountains. In the evening we'll view the Barong-Rangda dance, a gripping theatrical enactment
of the battle between good and evil. Jan.
16: In Ubud, we'll visit the Neka Art Museum with it's breathtaking selection of the finest paintings in Bali.
We'll also be visiting a traditional Balinese Medicine Man and the Wayan Kulit, the shadow-puppet play that brings good fortune
to all who watch it. Jan.
17: In Ubud we'll experience special Balinese yoga and see sacred sites and temples around Ubud. In
the evening we'll view the Lagong Dances which were originally created for royalty. Jan. 18: We'll be moving to a hotel in Lovina, a long black sand beach resort. From there
we'll do meditation at a Buddhist temple on a wonderful hillside setting and a giant stupa. We'll also indulge in natural
hot springs. Jan. 19: From
Lovina, we'll take a boat ride to swim with wild dolphins and view a volcano. Jan. 20: From Sanur we'll take a boat trip to the little island of Nusa Lembogan, a laid-back
island with great surfing and snorkeling, for our last day in Bali.
